Barbara Ann Wright, Candidate for Secretary

I am Barbara Ann Wright from Pendleton and the reason I ran for State Secretary is I felt that Rural Democrats were being disenfranchised.

Far too often major political candidates, whether it’s for State or National office, side step Rural Oregon because we very spread out and they don’t feel that we are enough votes out here to justify a trip East.

I want to help make the connection between Rural Oregon and the Willamette Valley.  I have been Secretary of the Yamhill Democratic Central Committee when I lived in McMinnville and I am currently Secretary of the Umatilla County Democratic Central Committee.

I am also National Secretary of Operation Firing for Effect which is a grassroots Veterans group out of Walworth, New York.  I got that position because I have the ability to write good letters.  I believe that it is imperative that we unite Democrats from both Eastern Oregon and Western Oregon in 2007 so that we will retain the House and Senate in Salem and make Oregon a truly blue state by electing another Democrat to Congress.

I pledge to work towards that goal.  The East-West Connection must be made and the only way I know to make it is to become an elected officer in the State Party.
